Marie Osmond Dolls Cinderella Raises ,000 at Disney Auction

By Dipika Mirpuri, About.com

According to a press release issued at Lake Forest, CA on July 15, 2005,

“The One and Only Cinderella,” a one-of-a-kind, Swarovski crystal-studded beauty by Marie Osmond Dolls, sold for a record $14,000 at a recent auction celebrating Disneyland’s 50th anniversary. With a portion of the proceeds benefiting Children’s Miracle Network, this one of a kind beauty shares her magic with more than the winning bidders.

The very special, one-of-a-kind porcelain doll was sculpted and costumed as a toddler-version of Disney’s Cinderella character. The doll sparkled from the top of her Swarovski crystal tiara to the bottom of her glass slipper-covered toe, providing a breathtaking representation of one of Disney's most beloved princesses.

The winning bid was placed by a couple from Ankeny, Iowa. The husband did the bidding, and was rewarded with not one, but two kisses from Osmond, prompting the auctioneer to quip “That will now be $28,000.” Osmond personally signed the certificate, and posed for pictures with the winning couple.

The auction, held at the Disneyland Resort on July 15, 2005 was organized as part of the Resort’s 50th Anniversary Celebration and featured over 50 artifacts, original art pieces and experiences.

The doll was sculpted by Sonja Bryer, and hand-signed by Marie Osmond. “Cinderella” was introduced as the first in a series of Disney Princess dolls. Osmond helped to celebrate Disneyland’s 50th anniversary throughout the week, visiting with collectors and signing dolls at Disneyland Resort.
